Nutritional Counseling in Palm Beach Gardens
You’ve tried eating better. Maybe you’ve followed a popular diet, cut back on sugar, or stocked your cupboard with supplements someone recommended. But are those choices actually right for your body? That’s not always easy to figure out.
At Cima Functional Medicine, we believe nutrition should be personal. What works well for your neighbor might not be the best fit for you. Your health history, lifestyle, and nutritional needs are your own.
Chiropractor Dr. James Cima has spent decades studying the relationship between nutrition and health. His Signature Program brings that experience together with a whole-person philosophy that looks beyond what’s on your plate.
The Signature Program and the Triune of Health
There’s more to feeling well than eating your vegetables and getting enough exercise. Your physical health, emotional well-being, and body chemistry all play a part.
Dr. Cima calls this relationship the Triune of Health, and it’s the foundation of his Signature Program. He’s spent decades developing this approach, working with thousands of patients, lecturing, and writing books about nutrition and wellness.
Rather than handing you a list of rules to follow forever, the program aims to help you better understand your nutritional needs so you can make informed food choices long after you’ve completed it.
Finding the Right Foods for Your Body
Walk through any bookstore or scroll through social media, and you’ll find plenty of people telling you what you should and shouldn’t eat. Some advice is helpful. Some is downright confusing.
Dr. Cima starts with two questions: Which foods are right for you? And can your body properly digest, metabolize, absorb, and use the nutrients they provide?
Those questions guide his approach to individualized nutrition. Food supplies the nutrients your body needs for everyday function, but your health history and digestive concerns can influence which recommendations make sense.
We’re not interested in giving everyone the same meal plan. We’d rather help you find an approach that fits your life.
What to Expect During Your Evaluation
Your first visit is a chance to talk. What’s been bothering you? What have you tried already? And what would you like to get out of the program?
Together, we’ll discuss your health concerns and whether the Signature Program may be a good fit.
If you decide to move forward, preliminary testing includes:
- A metabolic panel consisting of 52 separate blood tests
- An 11-test urinalysis
- A 10-test hormone profile
These assessments provide information that may guide nutritional discussions or identify findings requiring further evaluation.
Your personalized plan may also include dietary recommendations, customized supplementation, recommended dosages, and guidance on food combining.
And if something doesn’t make sense? Ask! We want you to understand the reasoning behind your recommendations, not simply follow instructions.
The Connection Between Food and Wellness
It’s easy to think about food only when you’re hungry or trying to manage your weight. But nutrition plays a much bigger role in everyday health.
Your body relies on nutrients for energy metabolism, digestion, immune function, and tissue repair.
Some people come to us because they’re dealing with fatigue, digestive discomfort, or weight management difficulties. Others have questions about their metabolic health. And some simply want to make better food choices without getting caught up in another fad diet.
Whatever brings you in, we’ll take time to learn about your situation. Dietary changes and supplements may complement necessary medical care, depending on your individual needs.
Whole-Person Care Under One Roof
One thing we love about our practice is that patients have access to so many different services in one place.
Along with nutrition and functional medicine, our Palm Beach Gardens facility offers chiropractic care, physical therapy, massage, and fitness services.
That fits right in with the Triune of Health philosophy. Nutrition addresses the chemical side of the picture, while physical and emotional well-being matter, too.
We also believe there’s something to be said for feeling comfortable with the people caring for you. You should be able to ask questions, talk openly about your concerns, and feel heard.
